About The Personal World Clock

Go directly to the Personal World Clock.

What is the Personal World Clock?

With the Personal World Clock you can select up to 25 cities or locations that you frequently communicate with and have them displayed on a separate page. The site will remember your selected cities so they will appear each time you visit.

The Personal World Clock is available in two versions, normal and applet. The applet version offers analog clock faces, but requires that Java is enabled on your computer. The normal version is explained on this page.

User registration recommended

Although most functions are available without registration, it is recommended that you register and log in. User registration will allow access to additional functions, and your settings will not be lost if you change to another computer or your browser's cookies are lost.

How do I make my own Personal World Clock?

With the configuration editor:

Go to Personal World Clock Configuration and set up your clock. Click the "Save settings" button when done.

Through the World Clock:

Go to the World Clock or the World Clock Search. Find a location to add and click on the name link; for example, if you choose London, detailed information about London will be displayed. Below the title "Additional time-related services for London" will be a link that says, "Add London to your Personal World Clock," that can be used to add London (or whatever location you chose) to your Personal World Clock.

If you do not have a Personal World Clock, the link will say, "Create a Personal World Clock." If the city is already included, the link will say, "Remove London from your Personal World Clock" (or the location you chose, if not London).

Share or link to Personal World Clock

If you click on the link below the clocks labeled "Share / Make link to your clock," this will take you to a shareable version of your Personal World Clock. This link can be bookmarked, added to your web site or sent to other people. Note that only locations and times will be shared.

This feature might also be useful if you are not registered and your settings are lost frequently.

Clock accuracy

If you have an up-to-date browser with JavaScript enabled, the clocks will update automatically. Clock times are synchronized with the server, not your system clock. In most cases the clocks will be within one second of the correct time, but in rare cases the difference may be larger.

If your local system clock is altered in any way, the Personal World Clock will be altered by the same amount. Please refresh/reload the page in your web browser to re-synchronize the clocks.

Troubleshooting

The Personal World Clock shows the wrong time or wrong cities

After you have made changes to your configuration, go to the Personal World Clock page and press the Reload/Refresh button on your browser. If that does not help, try doing the same while pressing the shift key.

No cities are saved

Your Personal World Clock might be working for weeks, months or years, then suddenly the settings disappear. If you are not registered, your settings are not stored on the timeanddate.com site, but in a file on your computer. If the cookies for timeanddate.com have somehow been deleted, your Personal World Clock settings will be lost and you will need to reconfigure the clock:
